About the Wine
A wine dear to our hearts from the newly-founded Château Baby Girl, not least because it was made by our dear friend Fernando Berry, who as a wine importer is responsible for bringing the majority of the Spanish wine you'll find on these pages into the country. He's now making wine himself. Along his travels he's been able to take on the role of the nomadic vigneron, getting his hands on some grapes here, making the wine there... all of his recent exploits in a bottle.
Filthy/Gorgeous was made using 100% Macabeo grown by Nuria Renom at one of her vineyards in Penedès. Half the grapes were direct pressed and the others macerated for two days in whole bunches, leaving this in the textural white category. A little like the name of the wine itself, it has a nice balance between soft, salty citrus fruits and a wild-edged underbelly, with a twang of volatility to the acid. It's a filthy/gorgeous faceoff that makes for compelling drinking - bravo Fernando!
