This is a blend of mainly Macabeo, with about 10% Moscatel, providing that floral lift. It's only the purest free-run juice (meaning the grapes haven't even been pressed) that goes straight into clay amphora to ferment. It's a real treat, and a wine that, to us, epitomises the essence of the Catalan style - it is briny, prickly, savoury, textured, but also incredibly aromatic and bursting with pithy citrus zing. A wine that transports us every time we drink it
Jordi Llorens is one of the exciting new wave of Catalan producers we discovered through heady nights spent at the wine bars of Barcelona. He took over the reins of his family estate in the Conca de Barberà, a high altitude region to the west of the city, in 2008 and has been making notable wine using a host of both local and international varietals since.
