Natural Wine For Spring

Producer – Thomas Puéchavy

Now that Summer is upon us, despite what feels like endless rain, we thought it time to put together a selection of natural wines fit for the Season. Light, bright, fresh, aromatic, heady and sensual: these are the bottles we reach for at this time of year.

Les Vrilles 2022

Given time to open up, a nuanced meld of gently honeyed crisp green apple, lemon sorbet and matchstick reduction float from the glass. Less high-definition-angular than his longer-lived wines, again there is an appealing softness to the structure, with everything hanging in place with casual poise. Salty minerals underpin, and the acidity cuts neatly, with a faint twang of ginger in the long finish. Find out more.

Les Turbulents 2022

A succulent, ancestral-method Chenin made using the earliest harvest selection from the youngest vines. Open aromas of ripe orchard fruits take on a zing of sherbet and a soft, fuzzy-edged definition on the palate as perlant pinprick bubbles dance on the tongue. A hairline wire of lingering acid pulls through into an extended saline finish. A good-time aperitif that also does the work when the cheeses hit the table. Find out more.
