Serious Grand Cru Riesling from this singular producer. The 2022 shows great balance, picked early to retain freshness. Chiseled, mineral and persistently salty with great length and complexity. Find out more.
We can always count on Yann to bring us wines brimming with energy and joy, the outsized bottles of ‘Ron-Rond Rouge’ are no exception. Made with a bland of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris from parcels on sandstone and little clay, the fruit was destemmed and macerated as separate varieties, very gently for three weeks - assembled and aged in stainless steel.
Bottled in litre format, which always gives us a clue as to what to expect – nourishing juice designed to be knocked back with abandon. Pouring hazy and with a slight spritz on opening, the wine is filled with plenty of bright, fresh red fruit, pithy citrus and zingy minerality. Wild edged, hazy and textured, it's everything we love about Yann's wines. Chill down and enjoy as an aperitif, we know the bottle won’t last long.
The Durrmann family had made wine for generations as small farmers. Grandad had moved away from farming to become a shoemaker but still kept a few vines on the side. André decided to move back to farming in 1979 and pieced the domaine together from abandoned vineyard sites that were hard to work and no longer commercially viable. Son Yann has worked in the domaine since he was a child and officially took over the business a year ago. André was among the first wave of organic winemakers in Alsace, converting in 1998. Yann has taken this a step further applying a more natural approach in the cellar.
