Staple house red - make sure there's always one to hand! It's Côt (AKA Malbec) from younger vines that mixes multiple vintages, all of which are matured in big old barrels. The resulting blend sees this woody influence gently integrated into the wine leaving plenty of room for freshness and minerality to keep it all in balance. This is a real crowd-pleaser in style - big, baked fruits with that dark and spicy character and at a price that makes it even more approachable.
Simon learnt winemaking and vineyard management with Olivier Cousin in the Loire. He took his learning back to his father's vineyards in the South West where he now works his small vineyard area by horse, just as Cousin does. We are so used to big, bruiser-like wines from Cahors but Simon makes wines with and extraordinary mineral delicacy and finesse.
