About the Wine

Chenin Blanc from remote, rugged hills in northern Aveyron, in the foothills of the Mounts of Cantal (south of Auvergne). A textural wine that opens up beautifully in the glass or after a couple of years in bottle, it has a fleshy and moreish fruit with refreshing bitters and a granite-induced salty finish. A wine with bags of character and complexity, that is sure to only get better with time.

Les Brumes translates as ‘mist’, a nod to the particularly misty micro-climate experienced by the 1.2 hectare plot of 40year old vines, which are sat right next to the river Lot on deep granitic sand. Chenin Blanc is perfectly suited to this area, and although it is most famously grown in the Loire, the grape has been found in the Northern segment of Aveyron for several centuries.

After hand-picking, the whole bunches are slowly pressed before fermenting and ageing in vats on fine lees during the winter. The wine is then racked when Spring comes around and usually bottled in June. A balance between dense fruit and fluidity is found here, with bags of aromatics and fleshy fruit.
