Made using 100% Grenache Noir from 80 year old vines - the estate’s oldest vines which yield wonderfully concentrated fruit. The grapes are de-stemmed and undergo a 6-day fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats. The wine is muted (fortified) halfway through fermentation before being left to rest for 10 months in stainless steel, retaining as much fruit character as possible.
On the nose this sweet red wine bursts with clear cut cherry, raspberry blackberries with just a hint of menthol and spice adding a layer of complexity. Luscious but light on its feet with a digeste quality, this has very fine tannins and a savoury finish. The perfect accompaniment to blue cheese or a dark chocolate dessert.
The lieu-dit La Luminaille is a special place in local folklore, found behind the village of Rasteau, to the north of the appellation and surrounded by hills reaching 450m, it takes its name from the olive leaves' extraordinary radiance during a full moon.
