La Femme Soleil, a 70/30 blend of Grenache Gris and Macabeo. A fleshy yet fresh white that comes together with citrus, white fruit and aniseed spice combining to beautiful effect. The grapes are direct-pressed and aged in barrel on the fine lees for 9 months. Beautifully balanced, the wine combines density of fruit with a mouth-watering mineral freshness.
La Femme Soleil is one of the tiny cuvée’s made through the negociant project Hors Champ. A project established and run by Cyril Fhal (of Clos du Rouge Gorge) and his right-hand-woman Alice Gendron. The duo source and buy grapes from trusted growers in the Roussillon region. The aim here is to create terroir driven wines with grapes that would often otherwise be grown for VDN wines. The wines of the Hors Champ project can be a little more experimental than Cyril’s domain wines, but that’s what makes them so exciting! Stylistically, the wines scream instant consumption and satisfaction.
