A thirst-quenching blanc de noir of Cabernet Franc. That's right, white wine from red grapes! Invitingly hazy in the glass, with just the slightest peachy hue, this is one that is hard not to glug when the sun is shining down. Named after the sound your mouth makes when ones thirst is finally quenched, Piak! is an electrically charged ball of zingy citrus, melon and white fruit all tied round a coil of zippy minerality that keeps you wanting more. It’s hard not to compare it to a fresh, tangy adult-lemonade, perfect on a hot summer’s day.
Made with 100% Cabernet Franc but not as you know it! The red the grapes are direct-pressed and see almost no skin contact, leaving the wine with just the slightest peachy tint. Hazy, textured and totally joyous, a wine offering maximum refreshment.
Sebastien and Émeline have vines planted around Saumur on the banks of the Loire. Their cellar in Beaulieu is a cave that is dug about 500m deep into the soft limestone cliffs. Inside the temperature is a stable 12 degrees all year round – perfect for making wine with minimal chemical intervention. The soil in their vineyards is the same limestone but of varying ages and densities. When he inherited his tiny surface of vines in 2003 Seb wanted to work the land and make his wines with the utmost respect for nature and his juice. Over time their vineyard surface has expanded to around 4 hectares but they continue to work with the same philosophy and dedication making Cabernet Francs of great purity.
