Very much in the category of glouglou ‘juice’, this go-to rosato brings the party with ramped-up sour cherry and tart cranberry fruit, bound with a wiry acidity. Who knew that Montepulciano could be so much fun? Find out more.
It’s pleasure all the way with this particularly generous Montepulciano that takes the term ‘fruit-driven’ to new levels. A real cherry-bomb explosion - red and black, sour, even in confected cherry drop form too. The juice is also pleasingly soft and supple; the product of fruit from 40 year old vines in Cancelli. Everything takes place in stainless steel tanks, using a reductive winemaking method that stops the wine from having too much contact with the air, keeping that varietal fruit pure and direct. The result is a brighter, fresher and less extracted Montepulciano with boundless energy.
Iole Rabasco inherited her family's small vineyard and olive grove, neither of which have ever been treated with chemicals. And she's taken that blessing and run with it. Her property is nestled in north-central Abruzzo where you have unique meso-and micro-climates, the 3.5 hectares are located more precisely in the village of Pianella, in the province of Pescara, about 40 kilometres from the Adriatic Sea. The base of the Gran Sasso mountain range runs along its western edge.
