Region – Ardèche

Patricia & Rémi Bonneton
La Tangente 'Metisse' 2023

The darker juice from the Syrah pulling more towards a rosé in appearance, but with a peachy sunset tint from the macerated Viognier, it remains a hard wine to categorise, but also begs the question, what does that matter? Worked in this way the Syrah gives some gummy red fruits to frame the herbal, anise character of the Viognier, which is extracted to leave a wonderfully fine-grained, delicate tannic profile. Petite Nature
Sorcières 2024

Aromatically it is pure Syrah – briny black olive tapenade, peppery blackcurrant fruit – but on the palate the Viognier reveals itself in the more unexpected sensation of citrus peel, fennel, green olive and brings a silky fluidity. It is the harmony found between these two opposing dynamics in which the wine succeeds. Find out more.

Petite Nature
Tombée du Ciel 2024

One of Paulette’s domaine wines, from a small parcel of 50 year-old Gamay, planted over sandy decomposed granite and quartz at around 500 meters in the hills outside Annonay. This is in many ways her signature cuvée, and offers a beautiful expression of the extreme north of the Ardèche. Find out more.

La Vrille et le Papillon
Caprice du Chameau 2024

2021 sees a different blend for this ever-popular wine after Meryl & Géraldine lost half of their Viognier harvest to hail. As always, the wine shows concentrated, oily citrus and fleshy yellow stone fruits. There is a savoury, herbal quality and the time the wine has had in contact with the lees can be felt in the long finish. Find out more.

This year the wine is dry and clear-cut, with smoky peaches, herby fennel, aniseed and zesty citrus oils coaxed out by the southern heat. A nourishing country wine with plenty of Mazel soul.
