Peppery and precise pet-nat of Pineau d’Aunis. Hop hop hop returns! The 2022 iteration of this well-loved cuvee is made with 100% Pineau d’Aunis. Think oily citrus, little tart red fruits and that unmistakable peppery Pineau d’Aunis backbone. All wrapped up with fine pin-prick bubbles and palate cleansing acidity - an elegant aperitif.
The red grapes are directly pressed, blanc de noir style, leaving the wine to pour an inviting golden white in the glass. The wine completes fermentation in bottle and spends a year and a half on the lees before disgorgement, adding layers of savoury complexity and roundness.
Ariane Lesné has worked in the wine world since the early 90s. Having worked in wine retail, wine distribution as well as doing a doing stint in Burgundy, she gained invaluable knowledge on both the wine trade and working the harvest. The crossroads in her wine journey came over a bottle of Émile Hérédias Pineau d'Aunis 'Verre Des Poètes’, of Domaine de Montrieux. She fell in love with Pinot d’Aunis, sparking a passion for both the grape and the region in which it is grown. Years later, Émile put the estate up for sale, and Ariane jumped at the opportunity. After 6 months guidance from Emile, Ariane was going-it alone.
After a number of difficult vintages and loss of fruit due to frost and other factors, Ariane began a small négociant project ‘Goût à Goutte’ to supplement her estate wines in those trickier years. She works with organic fruit both around the Loire and sometimes further afield. These wines are designed to drink young and are full of freshness
