The eponymous vessel always seems to lend a diffused, wide-open quality to the aromas of a wine - here white peach, melon and prickly white peppercorn provide a highly fragrant lift to the overall shape and balance. Tannins from the short maceration feel sanded-down and granular, raw lemon citrus gives a piquant twang, cutting through the smoky, pithy white grapefruit and tailing long into the finish. A 15-day maceration of Roussanne blended with a direct-press of Vermentino and Grenache Blanc. Bone dry, the wine is a heady mix of all the complex flavours and textures that oxidation and flor-contact can bring.
