Mosel Riesling, but not as you know it. Sauvignon Blanc, Muller Thurgau and Muscat, the wine is cloudy and has a refreshing spritz. It's zippy, fresh and funky. Find out more.
A delightful introductory Riesling from Staffelter Hof which takes a more classical approach to the grape than some of Jan’s more experimental cuvées. Pure, mineral, zesty Mosel Riesling with soaring acidity sitting nicely with green apple, lime zest, salinity and that unmistakable waft of kerosene lifting from the glass. A clean, easy-drinking, versatile Riesling - great bang for buck!
Produced using grapes from slate soils, fermented and aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks, with a touch of sulpher added at bottling. This is one from Jan's 'classic' range, it is more familiar as Mosel Riesling than perhaps the zero-additions range that Jan makes, though every bit as pure and mineral.
Made by Jan Klein, the latest generation at the helm on this historical estate which has been in the family since 1805, but operating as a winery since 862...! Jan started to produce a special range of wines with no added sulphites in 2014, a range that has now expanded to nearly ten singular wines. They are a departure from what you'd expect from the Mosel. As such the wine is labelled as 'landwein' - a lowly denomination that really belies the magic in the bottle, but which many contemporary German producers are working under for freedom of expression. We're inclined to think it is most definitely going to catch on.
