A blend of Monica & Carignano grown on exposed windy slopes near Nurri, Sardinia. As with all the wines from this estate, Pikadé is not heavy or forced but retains a clear sense of connection to its environment.
This blend has aromas of the macchia (the garrigue) with roasted herbs (myrtle, rosemary) seasoning the meaty fruit. A wine that is sure to transport you.
The grapes are manually harvested and destemmed before fermenting and aging in old oak barrels. Previous vintages of this wine were called Pikadé Rosso, Pikadé being the name of the single vineyard site where the grapes for this cuvée were grown. A smaller harvest meant that 10% of the grapes for the 2020 vintage came from a several other Panevino vineyards. Therefore, the ‘eee’ here means ‘and and and’.
Gianfranco Manca, originally a baker and now an icon in the natural wine world. He possesses a deep connection to the land and has a commitment to terroir expression which is unwavering, letting the vines pave the way in all his work. Gianfranco expresses ‘the vineyard is the heart out the farm’s activity; it covers five hectares, the rest of our life laboratory is made of olive trees, corn, vegetables and legumes’.
