About the wine

France and Spain meet in this unique blend of Grenache Noir and Graciano harvested from vines just outside of Estella in Navarra, planted on clay soils. The fruit saw 3 weeks of maceration with élevage for one year in a mix of large and small old barrels.

A deep and finely structured wine that offers a refined take on the region through Imanol’s unique lens. Spicy with notes of cracked black pepper and salt sitting against blackberries and a touch of liquorice. The perfect accompaniment to Spanish tapas.

Originally from San Sebastián, Imanol Garay’s project draws on inspiration from his experiences across the Pyrénées. He works from his cellar in Maslacq, about an hour inland from Biarritz and also has a separate cellar Spain’s Txakoli region.

Fruit for his wines in sourced from both France and Spain, where he is able to purchase fruit from likeminded growers whilst also working with his own tiny plots of vines dotted about the outer limits of the Irouléguy appellation and Orthez region. It’s a truly unique approach that bends the tropes of regional expectations.
