A serious wine with a silly name - Couilles d'Anes translates as 'donkey balls', a colloquial term coined by the local vigneron to describe the unusual black stones that can be found dotting the vineyard soils in certain locations. This is where Aurélien's fine touch comes into play, the wine is deep and structured but he manages to retain so much freshness and nuances within it. The most boldly-structured of the Grange du Nord wines, Mitan introduces a wild-edged nose of Carignan to the Grenache and Cinsault, and brings a lightly vegetal, stemmy character from the whole bunches.
