The latest from Celler Comalats

Almost exactly one year since our last shipment, a couple of new wines are finally available from Celler Comalats in the remote Catalan village of Ametlla de Segarra, between Lleida and Barcelona. We're so happy to have them back.

After a nice long rest in the cellar, and with the spring sunshine beginning to show itself, it's the perfect moment to bring these 2024s out. At a time of year when many of you will be starting to look for something refreshing and pink to pour in your glasses, Gavernera, a fresh, easygoing rosado of Garnatxa certainly fits the bill. Laurus, a glossy, fragrant blend of Garnatxa and Syrah provides plenty of Mediterranean fruit and light enough in body to take a chill. Both are a steal in the low-£20s sweet-spot.

The Bonet family have worked the land here for over 700 years. It has been passed on from generation to generation, eventually established as Celler Comalats in the early 90s.

It's an interesting terrior, up high at 700m but on a huge, flat plateau. The geology of the region has seen heavy, iron-rich clay pushed up to this altitude, giving the wines a bold, fruity character with a freshness you'd expect from the fluctuating temperatures between day and night.

You can read a more thorough profile here. And both wines are available to order now.
