The latest from Elisa Guerin

Arriving on cue for the last stretch of summer, and ahead of the cru wines that will follow in the autumn, we welcome the brand new 2024 Beaujolais, both blanc and rouge, from young vigneronne Elisa Guerin in Chénas.
This year her father Philippe has officially hung up his secateurs, as Elisa moves to the next phase in her work, the family domaine now completely converted to organics with her officially at the helm. The wines go from strength to strength, and we are so happy to follow this progression having worked with her from the very start.
These releases are both of the more youthful variety, coming from parcels Elisa works outside of her cru vineyards in Chiroubles and Moulin-à-Vent and bottled earlier this year. Her much-loved Beaujolais-Villages rouge comes from Gamay vines further south in Quincié over blue schist, sandy granite and limestone. We also welcome the second vintage of her immaculate Beaujolais blanc, which hails from the extreme north of the region, close to the Mâconnais, made with Chardonnay planted in, for Beaujolais, the less common terroir of chalky limestone and clay.
Reflecting a cooler, wetter vintage, they are both vibrant and fruit-driven, the lower finished alcohol paving the way, as it usually does, for the gorgeous powdery perfume of the Gamay to really show itself. The Chardonnay balances a lees-y richness from its barrel fementation with fresh, cleansing acids and orchard fruits.
