Seasonal Selections: Special Bottles

‘Tis the season for special bottles! With festive spirits high and good times in mind, today we’re shouting about those rare gems and large format bottles you may find yourself reaching for this time of year. Take a browse of our various collections including ‘rare bottles’, ‘wines from our cellar’ and ‘big bottles’. It’s here that you’ll find those extra special bottles that are perfect for this time of year. In some instances, we have just a bottle or two of each wine, so we recommend acting quick to avoid disappointment.

Here are some of our top picks for the season…

MAZIÈRE ‘G22’ Corbières. Roussillon, France. A stunning wine that is both lifted, elegant and muscular. Made with a blend of 2/3 Grenache, 1/3 Carignan.

MAZIÈRE ‘C22’ Corbières. Roussillon, France. A blend of 2/3 Carignan and 1/3 Grenache. A wine that is both light and chiselled whilst also giving power and depth.

BBIRBICIÙ ‘BRASÌ’ 2022. Pantelleria, Sicily, Italy. Singular red/white blend of Catarratto and Pignatello that perfectly captures the essence of this far-flung volcanic island.

BBIRBICIÙ ‘TESTA DI GHIACA’ 2022. Pantelleria, Sicily, Italy. Zibibbo from 60 year-old bush vines fermented on the skins in amphora buried in the sandy volcanic soils of the vineyard.

PATRICIA & RÉMI BONNETON L'ALEZAN 'SUSPENS' 2022. Étables, Ardèche, France. A blend of equal parts Marsanne & Roussane from a steep single-hectare parcel just a stone's throw from Sainte-Épine.

PATRICIA & RÉMI BONNETON L'ALEZAN 'RESILIENCE' 2022. Étables, Ardèche, France. Muscular Northern Rhône-style Syrah from the Bonneton’s prized vineyard, where vines planted as far back as the 1940s cling to steep, south-facing terraces that look down to the river Doux.

NOËLLA MORANTIN ‘LBL’ 2022. Touraine, Loire, France. Noëlla's exceptional top white. Sauvignon Blanc which sees two full years ageing in old oak barrels, imparting a gorgeous supple elegance. One-of-a-kind.

HUBERT & HEIDI HAUSHERR ‘ROUGE CHAMADE’ 2023. Eguisheim, Alsace, France. Fantastically pure single-vineyard Pinot Noir. A beautifully expressive wine that shows both power and freshness

DOMAINE FAUVETTES ‘DE L'AUBE À L'AUBE BOURGOGNE’ 2022. Mâcon, Burgundy, France. Stunning Burgundy from young vines of Pinot Noir planted over pure limestone in Uchizy. Elegant, silky and with a plenty of depth thanks to the warm 2022 growing season.

ELISA GUERIN MOULIN-À-VENT 'CHAMP DE COUR' 2023. Chénas, Beaujolais, France. A special cuvée made only in exceptional years, of which 2023 was deemed to be in this part of Beaujolais. 'Champ de Cour' is a single small parcel at just 0.4 hectares. A hyper-specific expression of terroir

VAL DE COMBRÈS ‘OXYMORE’ NV. Luberon, Southern Rhône, France. Huge solera-style red that blends 6 different vintages of Grenache and Syrah in old barrels, making for the most muscular, powerfully-structured and complex wine we have tried from this grower.

You’ll also find limited production magnum bottlings from Petit Nature, La Grange Du Nord, Antoio Gismondi, Le Mazel and Thomas Jacquin. Perfect for when the family gathers and a regular sized bottle just isn’t enough.
