Chenin Blanc Tasting at the Shop 24/10
Our next shop tasting is coming up on Thursday 24th October! This time it's a celebration of Chenin Blanc and another collaboration with our good friend Joel of Wright's Wines.
The extra-special dimension is that the night will serve as the launch of Joel's very own wine, made with friends Shaun Hencher and Andy Parkinson, using stellar grapes from the Anjou vines at Vins Hodgson, where there group worked on the 2022 harvest.
A 100% Chenin Blanc from two vineyards that usually go into the Hodgson's Faia cuvée, aged in a barrel gifted to Mai & Kenji by none other than luminary of the region, Richard Leroy. It's a rare single barrel Chenin of which less than 300 bottles exist, bottled by hand with no additions. After being lucky enough to taste it in barrel over a year ago, we're so excited to host Joel, Shaun and Andy to pour it for you all for the first time.
With Chenin being the theme of the day, we've also put together a formidable lineup of wine made with the grape from both the Wright's and Wayward Imports cellars for you to taste through on the night. Expect pours from across the Loire care of Noëlla Morantin, François Saint-Lô, Garo'vin, Thomas Puéchavy, Mikaël Bouges, and of course Vins Hodgson too.
The evening runs from 5-10pm and is free to join, drop in any time. Taste your way through the wines then stick around to drink the ones you enjoyed the most, by the glass or bottle, and have a chat with Joel and the guys. We will as usual be dusting some special bottles from the cellar to add to the list in addition - hope you can join us!
