Wayward Imports

We work with a number of small growers in France & import wine from these producers directly and exclusively.
We are interested in wine from growers who are in tune with the land on which they work, employing organic or bio-dynamic practises to produce low yields of healthy fruit from unique vineyard parcels. This philosophy follows through to the cellar where the wine is made with as few additions as possible - in some cases non at all.
We feel these wines best express the place they come from and the people that make them. They are the wines that we like to drink and we’re very pleased to be bringing them into the UK. We hope you’ll enjoy them too.

  • Le Mazel Cuvée Larmande 2018 | Wayward Wines

    Le Mazel Cuvée Larmande 2018

A wonderful vintage for this vital, energetic Syrah, that seems to change its incarnation with each passing year. Made with the usual Mazel technique of whole-bunch carbonic maceration to give the wine a dialled-back tannic structure and plenty of vivid...

  • Le Mazel Cuvée Raoul 2016 | Wayward Wines

    Le Mazel Cuvée Raoul 2016

Raoul is glossy, wild Carignan. Following a carbonic maceration to begin, the wine then sees a long, slow fermentation at cellar temperature in steel. The wine is then transferred to a champagne bottle with a crown cap as it still contains a little...

Mikaël Bouges Les Côts Hauts 2018

Les Côts Hauts is made using fruit from young Malbec vines that are around 17 years old. The fruit is bright and crunchy and clearly transmits the mineral rich soils over which the vines are planted; the aromas of gravel and wet stones sit high in...

  • Le Mazel Cuvée Briand 2017 | Wayward Wines

    Le Mazel Cuvée Briand 2017

Briand is 100% Grenache and is, in our opinion, a perfect example of how this varietal can express itself in this part of the world. The fruit is spicy and red, with a beautiful perfume full of wild fennel and clove. The wine is neatly cut through with...
