Sancerre but possibly as you've never known it before! This is Sauvignon Blanc picked late for maximum ripeness and to allow a small portion of the grapes to be infected with Botrytis (or Noble Rot as it is more commonly known) which dries out the grapes, concentrating the sugar ripeness. The wine then spends 2 years on the lees in old oak barrels and no sulphur is used at any point in the process. Auksinis translates as ‘gold’ and you can see why - a beautiful deep colour with all sorts going on; peach melba, overripe bruised apples and pears, creamy piña colada... unreal! Hard to believe it was accredited the Sancerre AOC as it has so little in common with typical wine from that place... something that always piques our interest here at Wayward. If you're looking for a wine that will command your undivided attention then we can't think of a bigger recommendation.

This wine will rock your world. Apricot, tangerine, passion fruit, musty white pepper lingering somewhere at the end... a genuine banger.
