Smooth, deep Primitivo from Salento in the baking boot heel of Italy: Puglia. A fantastic crowd-pleaser of a wine with a little bit of something to keep everyone happy and punching well above its weight at the price. Francesco’s method is to pick early, this means the grapes don’t end up cooking on the vines, leading to jammy fruit character and OTT alcohol levels. Here you have supple blackcurrant and cassis with bitter dark chocolate and plenty of intense body, but a certain freshness prevails. An everyday vino da tavola of the highest order.
