Paul and Corinne Gillet took over the fabled Domaine des Maisons Brûlées estate following the retirement of Béatrice and Michel Augé in 2013. Being big fans of the wines of its previous longstanding and revered inhabitants we were naturally very curious to see what the work was like there now. These are some of the first wines we have received since this changing of the guard.
Bullées Blanc is easy-drinking pet-nat perfection - Sauvignon Blanc bottled during its primary fermentation leaving unpolished, uneven bubbles and enough residual sugar to classify this wine as a demi-sec. This sweetness lends a sherbet-lemon feel to the fruit, alongside the abundance of ripe pear and honeydew. Instant gratification for sunny afternoons.
