Grape – Verdello

Elisa Cortese and Giovanni Adua’s story begins in the Summer of 2011. The couple quit their jobs, bought a camper and immersed themselves in the Italian countryside, exploring organic farming, sustainable living, and natural wine. Working with Le Coste along the way. They fell in love with a lifestyle based on the close link between nature and man.

Skip to 2017, Elisa and Giovanni bought an old stone house with the aim to restore it along with 6 hectares of land made up of vineyards, olive trees and woods. Located in Castel Giorgio, on the edge of the Alfina volcanic plateau about 550m above sea level, at the crossroads of Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria. It was here that Malauva was born.

The project aims to create a small diversified ecosystem, in which vineyards, olive trees, vegetable gardens and animals are all co-existing in harmony.  The varieties grown are those typical to the region, Procanico, Drupeggio, Trebbiano, Sangiovese and more. Elisa and Giovanni have quickly found their stride making wines with a strong identity and compelling drinkability. With a strong start, the couple surely have an exciting exciting future ahead.
