The sides of the valley slope steeply upwards and eventually turn into the snow-capped mountains of the Swiss Alps, to give you an idea of altitude and climate.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;\"\u003eFor grapes to grow well here the vineyards need to take advantage of these steep South-facing slopes so that the grapes can be bathed in as much light as possible for the entire duration of the day, otherwise they simply wont ripen.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto;\"\u003eThe grapes undergo a long, gentle maceration in tini, before being pressed off to big old chestnut casks until the following Spring.
