Massimo and Antonella are two Italians making wine in Catalonia using obscure grapes they find in the disused vineyards they take over, many of which are not included in the DO of the area they work in, Penedés - not that they release the wine under that label. While a lot of the time the grapes may not see their most typical expression, over the years the pair have created a very distinctive house style; when you taste the wine it can only be Partida Creus. It is normally salty and fresh, with a savoury note in the aftertaste, low alcohol levels and briny acidity. The grape in question here is 100% Vinyater, another forgotten indigenous varietal of the area, related to the more ubiquitous Xarel-lo.
