We love our sparkling wine ‘pet nat’ here at Wayward and Jolly Ferriol’s succulent blend of Muscat a Petit grain and Alexandria Muscat has always been one of our favourites, year on year. Bottled during its primary fermentation so the residual sugars ferment out underneath a closed crown cap, this typically sugar-ripe and aromatic grape still holds a little sweetness leaving it off-dry and intensely drinkable. The fruit is dominated by lemons - lemon zest, candied peel, even a lemon curd-y note, that off-set by the bready, biscuit mid-palate evokes something like a lemon cheesecake, albeit in liquid form. Glorious, golden fizz with a real thickness to the juice.
