This wine is known as ‘Gemischter Satz’; a field blend of mixed vines planted in a single vineyard. Or three in this case, as this wine sees the grapes from each site vinified differently; some direct press, some on skins, some in stainless steel, some old barrel, before being blended together to create the finished wine. ‘Mischkultur’ means a ‘mix of cultures’ and represents both the biodiversity in these particular vineyards as well as the diverse group of people that take part and help in the Joiseph project. The resulting wine is soft, clean and mineral with a lovely salinity. Very easy drinking and a tip for anyone who fancies a twist on a typical Grüner.
